She-Hulk Episode 8 After weeks of open hints and back-handed teases, Daredevil‘s Matt Murdock finally returns to the Marvel television universe in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and it probably won’t surprise anyone to learn that “Ribbit and Rip It” is the series’ best episode yet. But although Daredevil’s long-awaited appearance is note-perfect—and goodness, I’ve missed Charlie Cox’s sly snark—what makes this episode of She-Hulk sing is that it finally achieves what feels like a perfect balance of thrilling action and offbeat procedural humor, set within the larger question of what it means for Jennifer Walters to be not just a female superhero, but a female Hulk....

Andor Episode 5 Just at the very end of Andor episode 5, “The Axe Forgets,” Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård) and his assistant on Coruscant, Kleya (Elizabeth Dulau), have a brief discussion about the future of the Rebellion. Luthen is clearly worried that Cassian’s job on the planet Aldhani is going to go south, while Kleya makes it clear that she believes everything is going to work out, one way or another....

The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 7 Toward the end of many of Bungie’s video games, there’s a tank level. It’s a rollicking ride toward a finale, a big power fantasy all about momentum. With some exceptions for underdeveloped but effectively moving character work, “The Believer,” written and directed by Rick Famuyiwa, is mostly that: a slide toward a finale that remains mostly mysterious. While it builds nicely on what came before, the connections between the characters still don’t quite feel complete, except when Din Djarin is there to glue them together....

The newest Star Wars hero is a bit of a mystery. Omega, a young clone who joins the titular heroes in The Bad Batch, is a mix of audience surrogate and riddle. She’s eager to join the fight, and has some skills of her own, but she’s obviously not cut from the exact same cloth as the other clones. That serves her well as she escapes Order 66 from the clones’ side, with her and the Batch some of the few residents of Kamino who don’t go all-in on the Empire’s slaughter....

Stranger Things season 4 is a notable batch of episodes for Netflix’s epic sci-fi/horror series in just about every respect. It’s the longest season, with nearly each episode running over the 70-minute mark. It’s the biggest season, filled with budget-busting spectacle and awe. Most importantly, however, season 4 is also the wettest season of Stranger Things … that is if the closed captioning is to be believed. Supergirl Season 6 Episode 6 Brainy and Nia’s journey back in time to Midvale saw a marked improvement (and even more time travel!) in its second episode. Part Cat Grant-origin story, part sales pitch for a Dreamer (and Brainy?) spin-off, Olivia Nikkanen (young Alex) and Izabela Vidovic (young Kara) continue to wholly embody Chyler Leigh and Melissa Benoist to an eerily impressive level. For her part, Chyler Leigh herself made her directorial debut in an episode that was so good, Brainy even happy-cried....

You don’t even need to be an adult, as this series has proven time and time again with the deft way it weaves multiple plot threads featuring its teen characters through all the major stories it’s telling....

If you drifted away from Supernatural in its later seasons, or if the last few years of angel-demon-archangel shenanigans all blended together in your mind, here is a reminder of just how scary the show was in its earlier years. Later seasons of Supernatural could still be scary, but the focus of the story became epic struggles for the world and for Sam and Dean’s souls and the souls of those they love....

It’s hard to believe it, but Supernatural has come to an end. We had our theories about what might happen in the 15-season show’s ender, but Supernatural kept us guessing right until its final moments. “Carry On” is essentially a forty-minute epilogue to tie up loose ends after the definitive battle against God. It serves its purpose of bringing the series full circle to its humble beginnings: Sam gets his normal life....

The bevy of spinoffs announced in the wake of the final season of The Walking Dead has been the subject of everything from excitement to exasperation among audiences. For anyone who checked out with the death of Abraham and Glenn at the onset of season 7, it could seem that the franchise is trying to get blood from a turnip. Admittedly, I was a weird kid. But in my defense, growing up in the 1970s and ’80s meant that you were bombarded with supposedly lovable characters who were in fact nothing but weaponized nightmare fuel. Chief among these marketable terrors were the characters featured Hanna-Barbera’s variety show/hellscape The Banana Splits. Airing for two seasons from 1968-70, then repeated in syndication for perpetuity, this series combined the live-action antics of the animal-costumed characters Fleegle, Drooper, Bingo, and Snorky as they had indescrible adventures filmed at amusement parks that were intercut with other segments....
