Lovecraft Country puts racism at the forefront of its storytelling. Anti-Blackness is as much a character as Leti and Tic. It manifests in many ways on the show, through the protagonists’ engagement with white characters and the systems they control. And through characters like Ruby, whose internalized racism sometimes puts them odds with their own. Anti-Blackness takes on a specific visual language in episode 8, “Jig-A-Bobo”, when Diana is chased by malevolent “pickaninnies”....

DC Universe’s Titans has evolved into an enjoyable stand out in the crowded super-TV arena by balancing violence, dark tones, humor, and interesting character interactions. But as good as the show has become, the ninth episode of the first season takes the series in a shockingly mature direction with a raw, unsettling origin story of sexual violence that is rare for the genre. For back-to-back Star Trek projects, director Hanelle Culpepper has been given scripts that require filming on recreated versions of Trek sets that were last seen in the 1990s, more than 20 years ago. First, Culpepper filmed the Picard premiere’s opening scene on The Next Generation‘s iconic Ten Forward. And, now, in Discovery Season 3, Culpepper got the chance to shoot in the Trill Caves of Mak’ala, first and last seen on Deep Space Nine....

Showrunner David Goyer even mentioned that possibility in the original teaser. “People have been trying to make Foundation for over 50 years,” he says. “Foundation was an enormous influence for Star Wars. It was the greatest science fiction work of all time. The story is sprawling; the scope is sprawling. Tweeting in response to a Deadline article, Gunn confirmed that Bakalova will be in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the final entry in the cosmic MCU trilogy. “I guess I should be surprised it took you guys so long to get this one,” Gunn joked, before declaring, “[Bakalova] is incredible.” To be sure, such bragging on an actor is to be expected, especially in such a hyped-up movie. But the more interesting note comes in the Deadline tweet to which Gunn responded, which indicates that Bakalova will have a “key role” in the movie....
